Marking a spreadsheet with information in it on aluminum with fiber laser

Trying to mark a spreadsheet from excel on aluminum with a fiber laser that uses ezCad2. I have AI and can convert it to grayscale then import it to ezCad2 but it only marks the blank spreadsheet. It wont mark the text inside the spreadsheet. I need it to print the gridlines and the text information. Help!!! I've tried everything. Thank you!

Does it preserve your text if you convert the text to outlines by selecting the text and going to Type > Create Outlines?
