"Merge" delete my new draw

Hello,

I have my .ai saved, I open it, I draw new line on, I click on Merge to merge my old and new draw, and my new draw is deleted.

Do you know why ?

How I can know if they are outlined ?

Ok I find the solution.

I forget to do Expand appearance...

I need to select all my draw and do expand appearence and then I can merge.

I select all my draw and I have this :

And you want to combine all the black lines?

You need to outline all your strokes. Are they outlined?

Then "Merge" should work. You are using it from the pathfinder panel, right?
