Hello- So I have started a trail with Illustrator to check out some of the features for my digital printing business. I am having a confusing time with the Beta Mockup feature. I upload my backdrop image, and the painting I want to place on it- however the "make" button is always greyed out. They are created on the same layer, and I have tried to watch videos of what to do but I havent found the answer.

The photo of the object must be a raster image.

The artwork you want to place on it must be a vector object.

(same issue) I have converted my PNG image to an SVG (the image I want on the mockup item) and then added the T-shirt PNG (the mockup item). I have embedded both items. When I select both and choose, Object, Mockup, Make - make is greyed out.  I installed the beta mockup file yesterday so it should be up-to-date. I can't find anywhere that helps sort out why this feature won't work. I am using AI 28.2 64 bit on Windows 10.

So you used Image Trace on that artwork?

Or is there a clipping mask in place?

But most probebly just way too many objects.

On top of that: I don't get what you are doing there. In order to make a mockup of that artwork on a black t-shirt, just place the t-shirt, put the artwork on top and you're done. The Mockup feature will not do anything on that image. What so you expect? Mockup is fine for putting the label on a bottle or anything 3D, but that t-shirt is just flat.
