Mouse lags while browsing through fonts (Type > Fonts) in Illustrator

Morning Folks!

I'm running a PC machine with some hefty specs, so I don't believe this is a performance issue on the computer end. I've noticed when I open up Illustrator and I swipe over to the "Type" drop down, near the top where, "Font, Recent Fonts, and size" are, my mouse will lag pretty bad. I've tried the most up to date version of AI, as well as far back as 23.0. Anyone else experience this or have a fix for it? Currently, I'm rebuilding the Windows Index, not sure if that is gonna help the issue or not. Any suggestions is greatly appreciated!

actually... the more I've researched and played with it.... it seems like the hang up occurs at the moment you scroll past "More from adobe fonts" .... is there something that I may have disabled that needs to be on that's causing the system to search once you scroll past that maybe?

I mean I have a lot, but what would really be considered alot. and is there a fix for it ? is there a font enabling program similar to what mac uses that I would need ?

If you are not using a font manager like Extensis Suitcase of Font Explorer, you are bloating your system with fonts.
