Moving Shapes With Graident Fills

Hey folks,

Does anyone know a work around to this. Whenever I fill a shape with a graident I'm only ablle to move the shape using the path of the outline of the shape, rather than being able to drag the whole shape from anywhere with the filled gradient and place it where I like. I've got Object Selection by Path turned off and the bounding box is visable but it just wont let me move the object unless I select the path spesfically. It's not the end of the world but it is really inconvient espically working on a project that uses a lot of graident fill shapes.
