I am using CS5 on Windows, but also had the problem where I chose a new colour from the library and some objects changed colour and others did not. The indicator on the line on top showed the correct colour but the colour of the object did not change. I finally converted the obstinate objects to transparent and from transparent I was able to apply the new colour successfully. Some objects took quite a few clicks to change. Oddly the first click on the transparent colour sample (first item in the colour choices usually turned the colour in the display line to the actual colour of the object and the second or later click actually turned it transparent. In other words, it was like the object had two colours at one time. Now I have to learn how to make them fade out at the edges. Wondering if this colour problem will continue.

    Hi Arturas,

Sorry to hear about this. I would request if you can share a few more details like:

    • Exact version of Windows
    • Few screenshots of the issue.
    • Have you tried on different/ new documents? If not, please create a new document and check that works fine?

    Regards,

    Srishti

The original question was posted about hundred years ago.

    Please create a new thread.

Show screenshots of your objects that contain the layers and the appearance panel.

And please tell us your system.

Since I found a solution (i.e. going to transparent and then the new

colour), didn't see any reason to start a new discussion as it would just

be another file for readers to open and either the problem is not that

common or the current file is solving everyone's problem,. I think I am on

Windows 10, but no idea how to check at the moment. I am just getting

started on Illustrator CS5 and having all sorts of problems, like I copied

an object and then was unable to ungroup it from the original. Finally made

a new copy and deleted the old one, which solved it. Was trying to find a

way to blend two colours in one's object's fill, but it looks like all I

can do is overlay a gradient over the object and use a fill with no black

element. Is this issue fixed in CC or is it still impossible? I am trying

to do this with letter outlines (which will not form a clipping mask

because the blended colours behind are not an 'object'), so creating new

objects with a pen so they can blend is not practical, as far as I can see.

Did not see a thread on this, but no idea if it is worthwhile to post. Any

    comments? Thanks, Arturas (Vilnius, Lithuania)
