Need help with color in 2D flat sketch

Hi all,

 

I am drawing a 2D sketch for my clothing line.  But i have a problem with filling  the colors in. i think i made a bit of a mess with the drawing, but i have really no clue how to solve this. i just have the program a few days and spend alot of time on drawing this. Can someone please help me out?

As you can see here, i selected the collar. the layer is selected and not locked, but i still cannot use live paint.


I see.

That element is already a clipping mask.

No need to use Live Paint on it. You can just select the masking path with the direct selection tool and apply a fill to it. Like this: https://youtu.be/1xZ3yEFb5rs

 

But the clipping masks cannot be used for filling the shirt itself. So for that you will need to draw additional lines and then use Live paint:

You have individual paths that are not connected and so you can't get the fill to act the way you want. For example, it seems like at the top of the sleeve, the two anchor points are not connected. You can select both of those path end points ( with direct select tool or lasso) and join them via Command/Control + J. Then you can connect other anchor points, deciding which you want to connect for your design. Hope that helps.

True, i had some open path. i dragged them from anchor to anchor. if i just CTRL + J, then there will be long lines diagnal.

Your drawing is fine. You might want to take a look at either the live paint bucket tool or the shapebuilder tool.

    Hi Monika, Thank you for your reply! unfortuantly it doesnt work. i cant make a live pain.  something is wrong i think. it is too bad i cant share my file here.
