What you need is the "Cliping Mask" technique. The world visual is jpeg and non-layered. I want to make the vectorel logo look like the back of the world.

1. I drawn the Rectangle and Circle for the mask. I gave the "Compound Objce" command by selecting Rectangle and Circle.

2. I care that this new shape is at the top of all objects. I choose a new shape and logotype and apply Cliping Mask.

Result: You need to clone vector parts. Draw a mask at the back, places to look ahead and recommend the Cliping Mask application.

you could use an opacity mask.
