Need to refresh character created 10 years ago

Question

We have an Adobe Illustrator file that was created 10 years ago by a third party. We're looking to update or recreate the character to match today's technology advances. Currently, the image is very blurry when zoomed in. Any ideas on how to accomplish this in house? We have all Adobe products.

It sounds as something that has been rasterized; hopefully there is more to it, literally.

Can you show a Preview screenshot with the ailing artwork selected together with the relevant Layer (in the Layers palette) expanded, and with the Appearance palette?

Please use the Insert Images button at the top of theReply box (looks like moon over mountains), rather than the Drag & drop attachment which requires helpers to open another Tab.

And also an Outline screenshot?
