New Files open in a narrow tab - Illustrator on macOS

Whenever I open an Illustrator file, it begins on the left of the window and is slightly slim and I have to adjust the tab and search for the artwork.

Thanks for reaching out. From the screenshots you have shared, it seems to be a problem with the workspace. Could you try switching to the Essentials (Classic) workspace or resetting your current workspace from the Window > Workspace menu to see if it helps resolve the problem?
