new iMac zoom not working

hi everyone! I need some help with the mouse wheel zoom in illustrator. I tried working on my mew iMac using the mouse wheel but it's not working either when I use the option key or when I enable the 'zoom with mouse wheel' option on preferances. I also tried unclicking the gpu option, it didn't work either. My zoom on photoshop works as it should. Has this happened to anyone before and has a solution?

Sorry to hear you're experiencing issues with the mouse wheel zoom in Illustrator, even with the "Zoom with Mouse Wheel" option enabled. Could you provide a few more details, such as:

 

  • Your operating system and Illustrator version?
  • When did this issue start? Have there been any recent changes to your system, like app or OS updates?

thanks for your reply. 

I'm running illustrator 28.7.1 on macOS 15.0.1. my computer is new so the problem is here from the start. I tried launching in safe mode and the problem persists. It works fine in indesign and photoshop (latest versions available)

I've tried installing older versions, re-installing illustrator but zoom with wheel is not available neither when I have the preference checked nor when I use option+wheel to zoom. 

also I've tried deactivating animated zoom, it didn't work either.
