New Text Defaults to Myriad Pro Instead of Arial in Templates in Illustrator

Hi,

I've got templates set up which have text in them. The text is all Arial 10pt. When I click to add new text, the default is always Myriad Pro.  I've made sure the 'Character' is Arial when saving the template. I've also gone to "Character Styles" and made sure [Normal Character Style] is set to Arial.  Everything says Arial, but when I click to type new text, its still Myriad Pro. Its driving me nuts. Any ideas?

Thanks

What computing platform are you using? It may differ from the OS used to create the templates. Arial is a system typeface on both Mac OSX and Windows. However the operating systems use different variants or builds of the typeface. The version of Arial in Windows 11 isn't identical to the Arial font files in OSX. Arial even differs between newer and older versions of Windows. The version of Arial in the current version of Windows has a vastly larger character set than the one bundled in Windows XP.

Anyway, that could be one reason why Illustrator keeps reverting to default Myriad when manipulating the template.

Hi gabrielle_2091,

Thank you for reaching out, and sorry for the trouble using the Arial font. Would you mind telling us if you have https://adobe.ly/4q0NcZf font added in the Creative Cloud Desktop app?

Does that happen with this specific document, or with all documents?

We would be happy to help.

Thanks,

Harshika
