newbie font question

Hi,

I'm very new to Ai but due to some serious time constraints need this to work ASAP.

I'm trying to use a font installed on my system (ostrich sans bold, I believe it's an opentype font) but Ai doesn't list it in the drop down fonts menu.  It lists others from the Ostrich family (all installed from the same place at the same time and all work in other progs) but not the one I need!

All advice gratefully received!

Jane,

Illy is particularly particular about the quality of fonts, because she can work with them at a deeper/higher level than most, so you can easily have a font that works in all other applications, but Illy refuses to recognize it as a font.

Some failing fonts discussed in earlier threads have turned out to have rather basic flaws, such as redundant, superfluous, or (if I remember rightly) even stray points, or other clear errors in the paths that they consist of.

You may need to look for similar fonts that Illy is willing to work with.

When you say that all work in other programs it is unclear if you are saying that the bold weight is recognized in the other programs. Could you also be more specific as to exactly how you've installed your fonts? If you are using a font utility like FontExplorer then check it to make sure that all weights of the font are checked as activated.
