Question

no print preview & inconsistent color management settings error

Got a brand new computer with Windows 10 Pro.  Installed the most recent version of Illustrator.  Installed a driver (HP Designjet 4520 HPGL2) for HP Designjet 4520 42-inch printer.

When trying to print, the print preview pane is blank, and "Can't print the illustration.  The Color Management settings are inconsistent." error message pops and printing fails.  If other printers are chosen, the preveiw is shown ok, and it prints ok.

Also, in the print dialog box, at the left bottom is "Setup..." button, which pops up printer settup dialog box of the chosen printer.  When other printers are chosen, pressing the button pops the settup dialog box, but when HP Designjet 4520 is chosen, pressing the button fails to pop the settup dialog box.

By the way, there is another computer running Windows 7 Pro, and a somewhat older version of Illustrator on it has been printing fine to HP Designjet 4520.

Any thoughts?  Thanks

Are you sure the driver for the HP Designjet is Windows 10  Pro Compatible? There are several things that could be tested to find out if it is the document, the version of Illustrator, the Printer driver or the Operating system that is the problem.

Can you install the most recent version illustrator on the windows 7 ? (you can in the CC app choose to keep the old version so you would not need to replace)  If all works in Windows 7 then it is most likeley the way windows and the printer are working with illustrator.

Some more info about your colour management in Illustrator, and in the printer would help in knowing where the problem is (since this is part of the error message)
