Not able to select tool options after long press

I'm currently running Illustrator 28.0 and Indesign 28.5 on Mac OS Sonoma. I can't currently access the other tool options for instance changing pen tool after a long press. Option click works to cycle through but not a. hold press to get tothe other options. Not sure what is causing this as I have reinstalled the programmes deleted prefrences and also gone down to previous versions to no avail. Photoshop 25.0 however is working fine for me after a reinstall i can access the multiple options. Any help?
