Numbers writing backward in Hebrew, Illustrator

Hello all,

I've been trying to solve this issue but am not making progress and hope someone would be able to help.

I am an English Illustrator user and am working on transferring Hebrew text to a design in Illustrator. I've done some research on working with Hebrew text and this is what I've done so far:

- Downloaded the Hebrew version of Illustrator from the Creative Clouds App

- Character Direction set to 'Right to Left' in Paragraph Style Options

- Selected 'Middle Eastern & South Asian every-line composer

The issue I am having is that the numbers are backward when inserted into Illustrator.

English text:

Mike, diagnosed with acromegaly in 2016

Hebrew Translated text:

מייק, אובחן עם אקרומגליה בשנת 2016

Illustrator Text:

As you can see, when the text is placed into Illustrator, the number becomes 6102 where it should be 2016.

I've tried using different fonts and even changed the Digits to 'LTR Arabic' and 'RTL Arabic' but neither makes a difference - the number still remains as 6102.

It is tedious to seach for all the numbers and manually change it (typing it bakwards) so I am hoping someone can help me on how to easily fix this please.

Thanks in advance.

Davi

Hi Davi,

I don't know if you ever figured this out, but I finally found a solution. After installing the Arabi/Hebrew version so you can get the RTL option in the paragraph panel, you need to select the entire text and then go to Character-> More Options and select Default Direction. Took me forever figure it out.

Hello @Saraswatie23910380k8u9,

Sorry to hear about this experience. Would you mind checking if Illustrator also behaves this way with other files? If yes, kindly try resetting Illustrator's preferences by following the steps shared in this article (https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/troubleshoot-preference-issues.html) and sharing your observations.
Disclaimer: Please note that resetting preferences will remove all custom settings, and Illustrator will launch with the defaults. You may take a backup of these settings from the location mentioned in the article.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,
Anubhav

This same issue goes for English words. Tryping to input

CLINICALTRIALS.GOV בקר בדף הניסוי באתר converts to

where the english word is backward.
