Object bounding box appearing in wrong place

Ahoy all,

I've been using Illustrator on Windows systems for years, but in recent years I've noticed Adobe does a terrible job with scaling on high-resolution Windows systems (or Microsoft is at fault, but the Adobe apps are the only ones that seem to struggle).

One issue that's driving me nuts is that the bounding box on all objects is appearing away from the object, instead of around it.

Anybody know how to resolve? Simply resetting the bounding box doesn't seem to fix it, not sure what else to try.

Apologies if this has been discussed, I couldn't find anything.

Cheers!

I suspect Windows is a bit low on Adobe's priorities list...

No. Couple of issues on Mac OS as well.

You might also try and contact customer care. In case there's anything to be fixed, they could possibly find it:

Hi there,

I had a similar problem and after much frustration searching for an answer on the internet, I solved it myself. Before I share the solution with you, let me tell you how this problem happened in my case, your case maybe different; I copied and pasted the object from another AI file.

  1. Switch off and on the monitor - No effect, Not a solution
  2.  Restarted the computer, and switched the power - No effect, Not a solution
  3.  Copy and paste it again - No effect, Not a solution
  4.  Wipe the dust off the computer and stare at the power button for 15 seconds
  5.  Get up from a chair, go and drink water - No effect, Not a solution
  6.  Feed the cat wet food - No effect, Not a solution
  7. Change color of the object - Problem solved bonding box reset to original position

What happens if you save, then close and reopen your file, does the problem go away?

Try if View > Preview on GPU helps.

In case that helps: you're not the only one. There are some other theads in the forum.

Hi Monika,

Thanks for the quick reply! Sadly, though, it was already set to GPU review. Tried CPU preview, just for the hell of it, but no improvement. (Switching back to GPU Preview didn't help either, FWIW).

Thank you for trying. I suppose I'm glad to know I'm not alone, haha. I suspect Windows is a bit low on Adobe's priorities list...
