Object > Repeat feature quirk

Hey all. It's been a 'quirk' as you will since it launched versions ago, but will the Illustrator team ever make it so editing a Radial or Grid repeat tile doesn't then auto-open every element on any active layer below it?

It's a bit annoying, to say the least! TY.
