Objects stick to cursor when clicking

Hi,

Everytime I click on a object, it doesn't get selected but sticks to the cursor instead.

This is very ennoying when you expect it to only select the object, not moving it.

Is there a solution for it?

Thanks,

Daniël

I may have found a way to keep Magnet installed but prevent it from interfering with Illustrator.

With Illustrator open, click the Magnet menu bar icon and find the option that says Ignore "Illustrator". After enabling that, I haven't experienced any of that weird sticky object behavior even though Magnet is still running. Hopefully that works for you too.

Hey guys,

I was struggling with this issue for a while as well and didn't have any of the culprits mentioned here and on other forums (Magnet, Copilot, etc.) For me the issue was with a keyboard cleaning app called "OneMenu." It is an app I use to disable my keyboard to clean it occasionally. Disable this app and 'voila', no more sticky selection cursor! Hope this helps.

I have an end user with this complaint - however - she says she does do not have the Magnet app installed on her macbook.

"Hello, My full team is having the issue noted in this article that sounds like it is because of another app on our computers. This issue slows us waaay down and makes it really hard to work.

Out of nowhere, my Adobe Illustrator 2024 has been having an issue with the cursor. When I'm working on a design and try to click to select an element, instead of selecting, it gets stuck to the cursor and drags the entire design or remains attached to the cursor until I click again."

Do you have the Magnet app installed? It's causing that.

Hi Monika,

Thanks for the quick reply,

Yes I do and the problem stopped when I closed the app!
