Question

Opacity/blending not being retained in new shapes in Adobe Illustrator. It used to work!

Hello,

If anyone can shed some light on this glitch (or hidden setting) I'd be really grateful. I've scoured YouTube and forums and can't find reference to this specific issue.

When I'm illustrating freehand I like to keep the opacity settings for fills retained for each new object - that way I can build up layers of transparency.

Suddenly the ability to do that has gone; I'm left with each new object at 100% - which is very frustrating. I've looked at various settings and preferences and haven't been able to identify a way to fix this.

I've attached a short video to show you the issue.

Thanks in advance!

Ian

Go to the options in the appearance window, in those 3 side lines. Turn off the option "New Art Has Basic Appearance" or something like that, I use it in Portuguese, but it follows print, it's the only option selected there, and it should be turned off.

It worked! I wouldn't have found that in a million years. Here it is in English for anyone else's reference.

Muito obrigado & muito apreciado!
