So i have suddenly out of th blue noitced that when opening any file with layers of opacity and graidents that my illustrator just isnt displaying them properly, I have re-started, re-installed illustraator twice (the second time deleting all preferences in the process) and also just tried updating my mac to the new Big Sur OS to tule that out too,

I have opened the same file on two of my colleagues computers running the same mac spec, and software and it opens fine on their computers, but i cant figure out why it isnt working on mine.

I have attached a screenshot showing both how it appears on my computer and on the others (how it is supposed to)

my mac is iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017) 3.5 GHz intel core i5 with 24 GB ram.

McOS Big Sur v11.4

running latest illustrator

anyone got any ideas? tearing my hair out as im losing days of work time trying to fix it

Looks like the gradient is not displaying at all and there are other strange artifacts.

Did you try to switch between GPU and CPU preview (Cmd E)?

In my panic i forgot to try that, never been an issue before but yes it was in GPU mode and when i switch to CPU mode it displays much better (not perfectly though), thanks for the help, is this something i should worry about if its displaying so badly in GPU mode?

GPU Preview is fast but sometimes (some would say often) inaccurate.

It is a display issue and should print or export correctly.
