Question

Opening Spotlight Search in Illustrator causes it to freeze

While using Illustrator 30.3 (and some previous versions) on pretty much any version of Mac OS from the past year, opening Spotlight Search (Cmd+Spacebar) while using the program causes the entire thing to lock up (beachball) for nearly a minute. This bug has existed for at least over a year, because following the solution in the thread here:

(which involves having to go into Terminal and rebuilding my Spotlight search index) is the only temporary solution (and in the process, messes up Spotlight’s indexing). Incidentally, attempting to use the Search bar in the ‘Help’ menu also seems to replicate this bug.

For the love of god, please fix this already. I’m not going to keep deleting my search index because cramming AI features takes precedent over work-stopping bugs. I’m so utterly fed up.

Thank yooou.
