Options in Control bar to change size of an object

I have the latest version of illustrator. As seen from this attachment, when I select a shape there is an option in the control bar to change the width and height of the shape.

I am now teaching Illustrator to a few students and they do not have this option of changing the width and height of an object in their control bar.

How do they add this feature to Illustrator?
