Outline Mode not rendering properly

I work in GPU Outline mode with the animated zoom all day, almost every day. Suddenly, all of my shapes are not rendering properly in GPU outline mode. I can't use CPU mode, I have to be able to use animated zoom. I've noticed the corners are connected, however they look disconnected, or it looks like lines aren't connected when shapes are placed over each other. The lines are connected, shapes are properly joined, fonts are outlined etc. I think its a rendering issue, but that makes my job much harder.

I have updated illustrator, I have gone back to an older version, I have reset preferences, restarted the computer multiple times, but nothing seems to be working. I believe this is a rendering issue and have tested all options in the view panel with no luck.

I have attached images of what it should look like, what it looks like with GPU outline mode and a close up, and then the CPU mode.

Windows 11 Pro (updated)
Intel Core i5-10500 CPU @ 3.10GHz
16 GB Ram
Intel UHD Graphics 630

Thanks

Animated zoom in outline view is supposed to work only with displays that have resolutions 2000 pixels wide or greater. I don't understand the reasoning for this, but that's the case.

As for older versions of Illustrator tried, does that include any version 29 builds? I'm wondering if a recent Windows update did something to affect how the Intel UHD Graphics 630 chip set operates. If your computer has a utility that checks for hardware driver updates (such as Dell Support Assist) and cleans junk files that accumulate in the system it might be worth running that.

Hi Bobby, I did try a version 29 build and two of the 30 builds. I wonder if there is a bug or something. I checked the Dell Commander update, and everything is updated and looks good to go. Hoping to find some sort of work around with rolling back my graphics driver, but I don’t have full access to this work computer. Thanks!

Did you already try a different driver (version) for your graphic card?

Looks like it is an integrated driver. This is a work computer btw, so I don’t have full control of it. I’ve asked about rolling back the drivers but I don’t think that will be a possibility.

I have found that, if I lower my screen resolution the rendering improves but I lose my animated zoom. If I bring the resolution back up, the rendering gets worse but I regain the animated zoom. I used to have both working just a few days ago.

    Hello @Coli25568995db6t

I’m sorry to hear about your experience. From what you’ve described, it does seem like an issue with the GPU driver. Would you mind performing a clean reinstallation of the GPU(s) drivers (Intel / NVIDIA / AMD) and setting the Graphics Preference to High-Performance for Illustrator (https://www.amd.com/en/resources/support-articles/faqs/GPU-110.html) and checking if it helps?

Looking forward to hearing from you.
