Outlined text drastically increases file size

Hi!

I have ai file and it's normal weight is 14 MB. When I outline all the text, Illustrator works veeery slowly and when I save my work, file size is more than 100 MB. Even if I don't embed the image (image is 6 MB). Any ideas what causes the issue?

Thanks!

Do you have one line of text or paragraphs, mulitple pages????  Maybe you have a rough edged font, along with a font that is free and has techncial issues and an abundance of extra paths. Please post a screen shot of your artwork in preview and outline mode. You have images but we know nothing about them to be able to advise. Knowing what font you used could be helpful also.

14mb is large for an illustrator file, do a save as and turn off pdf comptaible unless you need to embed this into InDesign or After effects. Any placed images save as .psd and link to them and don't embed.

Maybe you do not need to outline, we do not know enough about why you are outlining to advise other methods such as embedding font into pdf.

It's small product label with three or four paragraphs, but yes... it's caused by rough edged font. Thank you.

Are you outlining fonts to send to printer? Maybe they will accept a PDF-X with fonts embedded. If you check  the font liscence you may be able to zip and send them the font. Depends on the font foundry.

I have outlined some rough edge fonts in the past adn not too much large on font sie. Buyt that si if they simplify the art. Some font designers are in it for the money an they jsut scan adn make as quick as they acn, some dont know better, others do it for the craft and put extra work into fotn to avoid what you are expereinced.

Outlining text makes every character its own shape instead of referring to the glyph in the font. So instead of one "A" you may get thousands.

I am aware of that. I use Illustrator for about 15 years now, but never had the issue.
