Overprint preview

Hi, I am having issues with my fill patterns in an object in illustrator. When I zoom in and out, the fill patterns look okay as long as I have Output Preview on but when I remove this, the patterns with the fill appear to be blotchy and missing some of the patterns. I never had this issue happen before. It started after the last illustrator update. Is there a setting or something I can do to fix this?

OR Maybe:

Illustrator Preferences - General - check "anti-aliased artwork" - This is a memory hog though an is often turned off on machines in order to make the drawing time quicker. But if you had clean lines previously onscreen, updated software, and this anomaly occured, this would be the result.

When I work I always have the "Transform Pattern Tiles" checked. I have no idea if this will do anything for you though.

Imo pattern swatches were never set up right. They cause a lot of memory issues (which really should never hapen with vector input these days). That said you will not see the pattern swatch as it will print because the image onscreen is a "rough" composite (to make processor vs graphics card drawing time managable) and does not hold all the information of the print instructions and specs in the active file in use.

The print information is a separate part of the file totally, containing all the vector input, profiles, inks...

So if you are seeing strange fattening or thinning of lines, thin line disapearing, etc... is only a screen anomaly (of trying to fit raster info (screen info) into pixel spaces). Often it will print fine. So that's the first step is to try printing and see if it self correcting.
