Overprint Preview Issue on Windows

I recently noticed an issue with Overprint Preview, and I can't solve it.

Windows 10, Illustrator CC 2017.1.0

When I have a document open, and I turn on Overprint Preview, the document stops drawing anything? I can use tools, zoom, but nothing appears to happen on screen. It almost looks frozen, but when I turn OP off, all the things I did/drew are there. For example. I had a drawing. Turned OP on. Drew a rectangle. Doesn't appear like anything happens - nothing changes on screen. Zoom in, and nothing changes on screen. Then, if I turn off the OP, the screen will update/redraw and show the rectangle and new zoom level.

I tried trashing my preferences, and updating my video drivers. This is a recent development, and I don't think any software updates have happened since it started occurring.

Does anyone have suggestions?

Does this still happen in Illustrator CC2018?

I'm in an educational institution, so I'm not able to do the upgrade to CC2018, we've got to stick with 2017 until the end of the term.

The info if it runs at all would be nice to have for finding the error.
