Paintbrush not working properly

Hi,

I am trying to use the paintbrush tool on illustrator and as I am drawing, the colour is coming up correctly. However as soon as I let go of my cursor the colour turns into a black line instead. 
I have checked all the layers and none are locked.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

I can't see anything on that video. Please make proper screen videos. All systems allow that.

 

What are you doing exactly and what do you expect to happen?

Sorry to hear about this experience. I would request you to check if the problem occurs with other documents as well. If yes, try resetting Illustrator's preferences by following the steps shared in this article (https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/troubleshoot-preference-issues.html) and sharing your observations.
Disclaimer: Please note that resetting preferences will remove all custom settings, and Illustrator will launch with the defaults. You may take a backup of these settings from the location mentioned in the article.
