Pantone converts to CMYK when a radial blur is applied.

Got an issue here... When I take a shape that is filled with a PMS color and apply a radial blur (which is a Photoshop Effect) to it, it converts the shape to a CMYK build.

 

Suggestions to keep the build PMS?

This is just my opinion, but Pantone-based spot color fills are most appropriate on objects with flat, uniform color. One exception would be a gradient built on percentage tints of a single Pantone spot color. When spot colors are used on objects that have gradations or blurs from one color to a different color and/or levels of transparency results are going to be unpredictable (and likely not desireable) when printed. I would recommend building the fills and blur effects using RGB or CMYK fills.

When does this happen?

Are you sure you applied a solid Pantone swatch? Or was it a CMYK swatch?

It was an RGB swatch, we haven't drank the Pantone cool-aid and bought the plug-in.

Huh? I haven't either.

 

So was it a spot color? Or what did you apply? And which color mode is the document? 

 

PS: you know that you can grab the old libraries from the previous version, don't you?
