Pasted objects not appearing in document

Hello! My Adobe Illustrator was working perfectly fine this morning, then out of nowhere, my pasted objects stopped appearing. When I hit copy something and then hit paste, it says that it has been pasted (for example, if I click "edit", it will offer me the option to "undo paste") but nothing is showing up. It shows up on the layer preview, but not the page. The layer is not locked or hidden, nor are any objects. I have tried adding a new layer on top of the rest and pasting there, but it still does not show up. I updated my Adobe Illustrator app, restarted my computer several times, and still nothing. I tried with several objects and different documents, even documents that were working perfectly fine for me this morning, and still nothing. I'm not sure what else to try to fix this issue, but I can't get anything done without being able to copy and paste.
