path and masked background not working when placed in Illustrator

Hello,

I created a path around an image and even applied a mask. Okay I can see everything looks pretty good in the Layers panel and the Properties panel looks good as well; as intended the original background is hidden. The problem occurs when I place the image in Illustrator CC 22.0.0, an obnoxious white background is showing. I can't seem the mask, remove or delete this annoying white background. I'm positioning the silhouetted image around a bold banner type face.

What are the necessary steps required to fix this mess?

Please advise, I need to get these designs to a client.

Thank you in advance,

LucidDc

Sounds like you exported the clipped image as a jpeg thus losing the transparent background and gaining a white one.

Then you placed that in your new file?

Clip it again and save as an Ai file

you made this mask around an image in illustrator?

therefore you're placing an AI file in a new AI file?
