path stacking in cs5

Hi everybody,

Here is my problem:

When I create an object or a pattern, or else with multiple shape, Illustrator create it but stack three or 4 copies of the object on top of each other.

I have to delete the individual shapes one by one.

It would be handy to have a script that find these shapes overlapping each others.

Ideally, the script would copy the selected objects to a new layer and do the clean up of useless hidden overlapping shapes.

Thanks for your concern,

JP

HI,

I tried it.

Usefull for cleaning stacking paths or compound paths wich thing I was doing

manually by selecting the similars shapes and merging them with the

pathfinder. I had few files stored in the dinausaurs folder expecting, one

day, a solution would sprang out.

I could not released the compound paths ( wich where only made of one

singular path). I moved some manually to another layer, your script worked;

I released manually the compound paths to get only shapes (paths), your

script worked.

It did not worked with the 'thing from photoshop'.

I found that if I expanded the 'thing' coming from photoshop, the compound

paths(undreds) where grouped in one big compound path. If I would release

this big compound path, I could retrieved all the warped paths , without

their copies! Ouf!

The saga continue.

before we resort to deleting the extra copies, can you describe what your doing to get all those copies?

There should be no 'extra' copies of anything… your script must be creating these?
