Paths not showing stroke accurately - Illustrator on macOS

I have paths that are behaving strangely.  If I select a path, and change the stroke from 1 to 10 for example, it thickens as expected.  If I change the stroke to 2, it shows a 2 stroke.  If I change to 1, it is a one stroke.  HOWEVER, if I change it to .75, .5, or .25, the thickness still shows as 1…  to clarify, I cant make these strokes less than 1 (even though they show as .25 or whatever) in the info...

    I think you have something applied to the layer. Like in here:

      What units of measure are being used in the document?

      I believe this wording, “it does not happen on every file, just this file“, most likely implies that this particular file is corrupted.

       

      If that is the case, you can try to copy the artwork into a new file and see whether everything is fine.

       

      If not, you can try to copy the artwork in parts and see how much you can rescue.

Would you mind confirming the exact version of the OS/Illustrator installed, if this happens with all files, and a brief screen recording of your workflow and the problem, so we can check this with the team?

      I am on the latest version of illustrator and latest version of mac os… it does not happen on every file, just this file… here is a screen recording.

      It appears you have multiple copies of your strokes. When you go less than 1 pt, you can see that there is a second copy of the stroke that IS changing size, indicated by the mitre point you can see change size when you go below 1pt.

      I’m wondering if you have applied a graphic style that’s acting separately, or there’s literally are duplicates that might be locked.

      if you direct select One of the objects, can you change it’s size?
