Pen tool creating shapes with no anchor points

Since updating to the 2019 Illustrator I am having difficulty with my pen tool.  When creating a shape, anchor points do not display and are not selectable or editable.  I have the rubber band turned on for pen tool, show bounding box is on, and show edges is on.  This continues to be a huge issue for me as I cannot edit my shapes once they are built!

Please post a screenshot including all pertinent Panels.

Just to make sure: If »Show Edges« is on then the menu displays »Hide Edges«.
