Place PDF Crop to: bleed - Not working

When placing a linked PDF and choosing 'Crop to: Bleed' it is cropping the linked file to the artboard, rather than the bleed.

Can you please tell us which version of Illustrator it is?

I can only test it in version 27.6, where it is working correctly. 

If you are not currently dloing it anyway, you could reboot the computer and reset the preferences (which will erase your settings). If all that doesn't help, upgrading or downgrading could be your only solution
