PNG Image editing in illustrator

i'm new to illustrator.

Placed a png with a transparent background in my document. Top hand in screenshot.

Trying to match line thicknesses.

Stroke weighrt does nothing. image trace getrs rid of transparency.

I'm trying to make it a font with fontself, so probably needs to be a vector, but i'm n ew to illustrator so i don't know how to resolve this.
