Poor quality when printing from illustrator

In the following image you can see the poor quality I get when printing from Illustrator vs the result I get when printing from anywhere else, such as the Mac previewer for example.

It doesn't matter what you print, vectors or text, or the type of paper. Every time I print from Illustrator the quality is simply bad, you can see how it leaves the edges.

- Illustrator: I have the latest version as of today, June 7, but the problem has been happening for two years.
