Precise Adjustments in Adobe Illustrator
Do you need precise adjustments in Adobe Illustrator? That would be a normal need in technical drawings, logos, and many other graphics which require extreme accuracy.
If you try to move points, strokes, or other objects, in tiny increments, with the arrow keys on your computer, you may not be getting the precision that you need.
Try this: 1.) Open your Illustrator Preferences. (For macOS: Choose Illustrator > Preferences. For Windows: Choose Edit > Preferences.) 2.) The first of 13 Preferences panels is General. Choose that one. 3.) The first available field in that panel is Keyboard Increment. Try setting that field to 0.001 in. Work with it a little and see if that helps.
But what if that level of precision isn’t always what you need? Well, you can always open Preferences and reset it. But first, try holding the Shift key while moving things with the arrow keys. Holding Shift moves things in 10 times greater the increments you set in Preferences.
