prefs folder nowhere to be found for IABD error

Ended up deleting both illus 2023 and 2024 because I couldn't find a preferences folder to attempt to resolve errors in the illus 2024 app on my MacOS M2 Pro running 14.1.1 but it still didn't fix start up error  x 2:

1. "The operation cannot complete because of an unknown error. [IABD]"

2."An error occurred while processing the appearance of an object."

Neither of my versions have "preferences" tab under file menu or anywhere else that I can see. I cannot even find it via terminal under Library or in the Library/Adobe folder.

But who cares , I do not want to play around with preferences when I pay a high price for this software, that's for sure. Adobe needs to fix the glitch with that folder themselves.

So I imagined deleting and reinstalling would set a new default preferences folder but I was wrong and I'm still getting these errors on start up. In any case, I am able to keep working but I don't trust it because already I had a strange problem with lines in a layer refusing to delete even though I clearly had the correct layer by turning on and off the view and unlocked.

It is obvious I will be forced to phone Adobe on Monday to resolve this unless I get lucky in here before then.

Any suggestions?

As Follow up. Found the pesky preferences folders and deleted them. Then deleted Illustrator and restarted the computer. Nothing has changed, I am still getting those two errors so will have to chat with an agent.

So just in case some other person stumbles across this. I will explain what I did to remove the error. It had nothing to do with the prefs folder. It was one pesky layer with a set of objects too many for illustrator to deal with and so I grouped them then rastersized and that solved it.

Did you search in the correct folder?

The preferences are in your User folder.

Hold down the Alt key and then use the Go To menu. The library folder is right there.

Here are the locations of everything: https://www.vektorgarten.de/illustrator-settings.html

No it is not in my user folder . I remember in the old days it was and easy
to find but not anymore so baffling. In any case , it is not my
responsibility to delete the prefs and I will be expecting a refund if it
continues.
