Hi there,

My class created poster in art and everything has been saved as either a .jpg or a .pdf because it was done at home. Our school now wants to have it printed and the printer wants it in an .ai format. We have Illustrator at the school but nobody is really familiar with it. Is it possible to import the formats I have and still make them work in Illustrator? They also want me to curve the fonts which I can't seem to figure out how to do since the files are all compressed in the .pdf or .jpg formula.

Nothing like new technology to make you feel dumb lol

Any help would be great appreciated!

There is every chance it will have to be remade. A JPEG that looks great on screen ususlly does not have enough detail (resolution) to print even at normal sizes, still less a poster.

what software created it initially? vector software? you could Place a vector PDF in Illustrator if you need to, but it'll be very difficult to effectively edit elements of it if it wasn't created in AI with illustrator editing capabilities saved.

if all you have are raster files, then there's no point in using illustrator; you're stuck with what you have.
