Problem with the vertical alignment of the captioned text in Illustrator 2026

I have a paragraph of text in a captive text block and I want to align that paragraph to the bottom of the block. When I select this option, the text should be aligned to the bottom of the block, but it isn’t. It seems to align to the bottom and then immediately jump back to the top of the block. 

When I use this feature in an older version of Illustrator, I don’t have this problem. If I save the file in that older version and open it in the latest version (2026), and then edit the text, the text jumps back to the top of the block even though the ‘bottom’ option is selected.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I’ve attached a screenshot, as I’m using the French version of Illustrator and I don’t know what this window is called in the English version
