Problems saving and exporting files in Illustrator v29.6.1 (Windows 10 x64)

When I first start Illustrator and open a file with a single artboard to export to jpeg or png, the "Suffix" checkbox is unchecked in the explorer window for selecting where to save the file, but Illustrator adds the suffix to the file name anyway. The problem disappears if I check the box and then uncheck it immediately. After restarting Illustrator, the bug returns.

Another problem with the checkbox in explorer is also observed when saving eps files with multiple artboards, if I uncheck the "Use Artboards" checkbox so that it saves one file, Illustrator still saves one common file + all artboards separately.

I've written before about problems with these checkboxes in early versions of illustrator 2020, they were fixed, why are these bugs coming back in newer versions?

Thanks

@d1malien You are absolutely correct to point that out! When you 'Export,' this function is specifically designed for exporting to raster formats like JPEG, PNG, TIFF, or other vector formats like DXF. This is where the problematic "Suffix" checkbox behavior often occurs, adding the suffix even when unchecked. This is also where the "Use Artboards" checkbox for single vs. multiple artboard exports to formats like PNG or JPG. But, if you use the 'Save As' function, the "Suffix" issue doesn't typically appear here. This function is primarily for saving your native Illustrator AI files, or older versions like AI, EPS, PDF, or SVG. When saving an EPS via "Save As...", the "Use Artboards" option functions differently and is generally more reliable in respecting your choice (e.g., saving a single composite EPS or separate ones).

All these, so-called Adobe, cosmetic bugs cause a lot of problems in the workflow and it is sad that these bugs return in new versions. It is a pity that the times of CS 6, 5.5, 5 .... have passed, everything worked like a swiss watch.

Hello @d1malien,

Our team has tried fixing this in Illustrator (beta) 29.8.0.10. Could you try installing the latest Illustrator (beta) (https://adobe.ly/3IDHcpe) to see if it helps?

Looking forward to hearing from you.
