problems with changing colour

This morning's task, change the colour of a simple path …

open graphic, use colour picker, enter hex value, click OK. Either nothing happens, or (sometimes) the colour changes but not to the value I just typed in.

Any ideas? thanks in advance.

Hi Monika, can you please explain me this..why isn't my colour picker working, it's showing default Black all the time. Here's the screenshot.

There were certain versions where this was a bug. So what version is it?

And what system?

Your steps seem to be missing one essential ingredient—just to check, you do actually have something selected?

Good question … prompted by poor description. Yes, I do have something selected. I'm now (vaguely) beginning to wonder if Colour settings have anything to do with? I note that while RGB has a checkmark, all the options from the little Colour panel are greyed out.

I think you may be in an opacity mask—as Monika suggested, please send screenshots.
