Problems with Google File Stream and Illustrator

I had several problems using Illustrator with File Stream, but the most common is that it does not save files correctly and generates temporary files like this:

~ai-c8527f8d-e281-4004-b60f-6a1d1845ab40_.tmp

Any solutions?

@derrick K I cannot thank you enough for this response. I've never had this happen before, but it just happened with a file I worked on for days last week. I thought I was going to have to recreate hours of work, but I just renamed the files to xyz.ai and my latest version was actually still there and opened. I'm SO relieved!! Thank you!!

Adobe officially does not support saving or working directly off non-local locations - cloud storage, network servers, etc.

That being said, there are some things you can do to help eliminate the issue. First being turn off active sync while working or work local then drag to the sync location to backup.

Your sync systems are affecting the normally invisible temp files.

I'm assuming this is not the case with Adobe Cloud files?

The problem is still there. This time with Google Drive. Illustrator does NOT save the file and generates these TMP files.

Still happening here. I have notice that the temp files are all the versions/instances of the Illustrator files...autosave files? I found that you can rename the temp files whatever you want (eg..test.ai), as long as it has ".ai" at the end it will make it into a functional AI file. Most of the time on my end it saves correctly but won't fully sync, there will be a cloud symbol next to it. Moving it between folders will sometimes remedy that and it will fully sync. Moving it between folders makes me think it is a permissions issue. These are my findings, hope this gets fixed soon.

I guess I'm just old, but I don't trust live saving online, or to networks, I do everything on my local HD then back-up daily.
