Problems with Live Font Preview

Question

I have two problems with the Live Font Preview tool: if I select a text and open this font menu:

1) there's no way to exit the tool without changing the font (moreover, it sometimes changes the letters but not the numbers). I tried clicking elsewhere, using the esc key, nothing works. And you can't even undo the action. The only way is to look for the original font (assuming you remember what is was) and click on it.

2) doing any of these things turns on the bounding box.

Is there a preference setting I missed or is this a bug?

(tried on CC 2017, Windows 7 professional)

Yes, exactly. But also if I use the Character palette or the Font menu.I tried it on a Mac, and it worked OK, except for the bounding box that it also turned on.
