Purchasing Adobe Illustrator

I just have a question about how I purchased Adobe Illustrator... I purchased Adobe Illustrator CS5 from Software Depot (softwaredepotdesk.com) about a week ago.  I was looking for the older version and somewhere I seen on Adobe help forum a link for this website, that I could buy the older version of Illustrator there because you could no longer purchase the older version from Adobe.  Well, I purchased the product and it come with installation and license key.  When I read the FAQs it states that they sell OEM software instead of the retail and that they are a retailer of OEM for manufacturers such as Microsoft, Adobe, Autodesk and many others.  More I thought about this the more I wondered if this was a valid way to purchase the product so I wanted to make sure that this was legal.

    There really isn't a safe place to buy old product once Adobe discontinue it. Think about it - Adobe just aren't making it any more, so where do they keep getting stock to sell...

    Ok I understand. I may check the subscription illustrator out and see about it. I work in fashion design for a sewing manufacturer and I'm not sure if they would be interested in the subscription but I've not ask yet either. Our Gerber Digitizer board has messed up and more or less, cannot be fixed. So I was kind of looking for an alternative. I seen on YouTube where illustrator can work with my accumark system. So I was wanting to try it out and I was actually able to import a pattern made from illustrator and all looked good. I will check with my supervisor and see what he wants to do. I'm going to cancel this purchase with the older version and hope nothing comes through my account later. I think I also need to close my debit card.

    Hi Veronica,

    Like our expert mentioned above, it isn't safe to purchase license from an untrusted vendor. Adobe has formally stopped selling CS products now. You can get a trial of latest AI CC 2017  and if you like it you can go for the subscription.

    This is a very common claim of people who sell counterfeit software. They fill web sites with plausible lies and uncheckable detail. Even if it is true, OEM is often invalid if sold as a retail product. Adobe stopped making OEM product of CS5 many years ago, you have to ask how they have old product like that in quantity. Clearly though I do not know this site and can only comment on its similarity to a pattern.

    Unfortunately an registering the software does not stop it being invalidated in future if Adobe discover a new source of invalid licenses.

    The ultimate proof of legal ownership is that you can register the registration key under My Products, using your Adobe ID here:

    https://www.adobe.com/account/my-products-services.html

    If you succeed, the registration key should be valid, and yours.

    Actually, registration is part of activation from CS5 on.

    I went back to my installation for this product and there is no serial

    keys. It is an .exe file and it say I have to insert and install the

    application to register. Each time I update it, I have to go here to

    reactivate the license it says. This doesn't sound like a valid

    company.... Does this not sound valid to you?

    I emailed Adobe support and ask if they had any stand alone illustrator

    software that you could purchase and support said they only have the

    subscription based ones now. This is so disappointing because I would like

    to purchase the product without the subscription. I don't want the monthly

    charge. Is there anywhere safe and that is legit that I can purchase Adobe

    Illustrator cs5? Such as maybe Newegg or Amazon or something. I don't

    want to get something that is not valid.

    Well, I purchased the product and it come with installation and license key.

    Have you tried the registration page I linked to?

    But in any case, it looks as if you (may) have been fobbed with something invalid/illegal.

    Have you asked the seller, and can you get a refund?
