Hello!

I have a few questions regarding Pantone color and printing with them:

1. What are the most important things to know when working with Pantone?

2. What do I have to tell a client to consider when they want to print their work in Pantone colors?

3. In what printing methods you can use Pantone colors?

4. How do you prepare a vector file for printing with Pantone colors?

Thank you in advance!

You prepare a vector file for printing with Pantone colors, either you choose the cantons before you start the illustrations, or you can change the process colors to Pantons later, I usually use swatch panel، check my screenshot, and I choose the best colors. when you click on the color it will be loaded on the swatches panel.

the colors with triangle with dot on the right, is the Pantone (spot color).

you can compare the color you have used with the Pantone color you choose.

also, you can double click on the CMYK (process color) to convert the process to spot. (the press will choose the exact Pantone that match your color.

Please ask for more information if you need, and how to change the gradient to Pantone.

Good luck.

1 & 2

I used to use Pantone color when I have a logo for 1 used 1 color with black text, the 1 color for example is orange, in printing in general, the color will not be standard  from press to other, may they not accurate with CMYK printing.

A Pantone color should be used is to ensure your branding color is consistent and the same in each print put.

So, Pantone colors on the other hand should be used for stationery and logo designs.

sometimes I don't use images, for example in business card, the logo has 2 colors include the black, I am using Pantone for that 1 color for saving the cost. no need to use CMYK color it will be more expensive.

Pantone is clean color if you have a color for full page for example-- process printing (CMYK) has a mixing so it maybe not like the Pantone quality (1 color with specific no. with no mixed colors).

sometimes we have extra color for special need, like silver ... its the 5th color.

1. You need printed samples in order to select them. So get a swatches book. It gets more expensive the more spot colors you use. Depending on how you use them in your design and depending on the exact colors you use, you might not be able to simulate your design on screen. At all. So you might need to have it proofed.

2. May I ask you why you or the client think that you absolutely need to use Pantone colors?

3. Please tell us what you know about printing.

4. Please show us your design.
