Question

Recent display issues / Glitches in previews

Long time user ( 25 years ) with a stable machine ( 64g ram, 16g vram, up to date drivers, yada yada yada ). Haven't seen these issues until recently.

     · Image Previews: When zooming in or out, linked images will become very pixilated. The only way I've found to reset them is to quickly swap in and out of outline mode, or move the object and hit undo. Then it seems to preview fine.

     · Artboard area: Zooming in or out, the artboard will appear to have extra space on the edges. Again, swapping in and out of outline mode, or moving an object will fix it. Attached an example of this one.

     · Compound paths: When moving a complex compound path, certain elements will stay in their previous position. Moving them again and hitting undo generally fixes this one ( not swapping to outline mode )

Anyway, these are just 3 of the new bugs that I've been experiencing lately.

Hello @Sam26565654u0mq,

Sorry to hear about your experience. Would you mind performing a clean reinstallation of the GPU drivers (Intel / NVIDIA / AMD) and setting the Graphics Preference to High-Performance for Illustrator (https://adobe.ly/48ZhMdS) and checking if it helps? Also, try to manually reset Illustrator's preferences and sharing your observations:

For macOS

• Close all Adobe applications.

• Go to the following locations

• ~/Library/Caches

• ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe

• ~/Library/Preferences

• Rename Adobe Illustrator, com.adobe.illustrator and Adobe Illustrator 27 Settings folders to Adobe Illustrator.old, com.adobe.illustrator.old and Adobe Illustrator 27 Settings.old

• Launch Illustrator from the Creative Cloud.

Note: Location starting with this "~" sign indicates the User Library, which is hidden. So, you need to copy & paste the exact path in spotlight search or from Finder Menu > Go > Go to Folder > Paste the location in the dialog box like this:

For Windows

- Close all Adobe applications.

- Go to Location C:\Users\%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\Adobe

- Rename Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Illustrator 27 Settings folders to Adobe Illustrator.old and Adobe Illustrator - 27 Settings.old

- Relaunch Illustrator from Creative Cloud

Disclaimer: Please note that renaming preferences folders will remove all the custom settings, and Illustrator will launch with default settings. You can also save a backup of the folders in case you want to. The location is mentioned above.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav
