Hi all,

I want to open a file via " open recent files" and I get the message
"file does not exist".
How can I know which path Illustrator is looking at where the file is?
That way I can look in my files to see what is going on.

Thanks in advance for looking.

Correct answer Ton Frederiks

If I hover over the name in the Recent Files window, it shows the path.

I think I saved the file on dropbox. However, I can't find anything via the Dropbox search function.
Therefore I would like to know on which path the file was last saved to find out where it might have gone.

Try to start a global search on your computer (from My Computer/root location).

You'll find the files or at least will know that they are not on the local hardware. Then check other drives which you have in use (removable and cloud).

Sorry, if you don't know where your files were saved (yes, such things happen from time to time) you have to search everywhere.

Hi driesv,

where did you save your file? On your computer, on the cloud, on some external storage.
