Recording Actions

I am setting up an action and I want to be able to change the gridlines from px to inches so I've inserted a menu item and when I play the action, the guides and grid box comes up and "gridline every" is highlighted so I change it to "1 inch" but it does not save that option. Any ideas what I am doing wrong/not doing? thanks!
